The Downtown Colton Paseo represents more than just a physical structure; it signifies progress, growth, and a brighter future for our community.
The Paseo is the first public component completed under our 2016 Downtown Plan, which encourages a mix of pedestrian linkages and gathering spaces to promote walking, bicycling, and transit use. The Plan includes two paseos, one of which transformed this former pedestrian alley—often referred to as “Fireman’s Walk.”
With assistance from Assembly Member Gomez-Reyes, the City secured a $600,000 grant from the California Resources Agency in 2018, which covered the majority of the construction costs. The full project cost was $745,743.
This improvement has already begun to serve as a “spark” for the revitalization of our downtown and continues to be a valued gathering place for our community.
