Colton eTRAKiT an online permitting system

eTRAKiT web enhancements are in process to further streamline your Permit or Project with the City.   


eTRAKiT is the online portal to the City’s permit system. This portal will allow certain users to do the following:  

  • Apply for certain permits and development projects. 
  • Upload plans, studies/reports through this portal is a requirement for City on-line applications including Colton Building, Fire, Planning, and Public Works.

  • Fees to be reviewed and invoice to be provided by City Staff (please report any suspicious invoicing or call us at 909-370-5079).
  • Connect with the City once a permit/project is submitted. (Required)
  • Fees (under reconstruction-enhancement);
  • Conduct searches; 
  • View permits; and 
  • schedule/monitor inspections online.  
  • Expediting Permits is limited by City Departments/Division.  At this time expediting permits is available through Building Division Review, PW Engineering, and Fire Department Reviews.  Please see contacts below for expediting.  Expediting is presently not available by Public Works Electric Utilities, and Water.  
  • How to Create a Contractor Account in eTRAKiT

    Objective
    The objective is to create an account for contractors so they can log in to eTRAKiT as a contractor rather than a public user

    To create a contractor account in eTRAKiT

    1. Create an AEC record in TRAKiT for the Contractor and make sure the status is Active and has a valid email address associated with it.
    2. Have the Contractor click Forgot Password and fill in their email address.  They will be sent a link to the email and be able to create a permanent password.
    3. After successfully creating the password, the contractor's account will appear on eTRAKiT Admin under the General Link> Contractor Login Tab> Login section "View List"
    4. A couple areas new customers should be able to see the AEC number after opening the account. Click View AEC at the end of the application process, it should bring up the Contractor License information page which should show License "#AEC#####". 
  • Customers may also receive an email with a subject like "AEC AEC##### is received via E-trakit on-line application."

  • How to Sign Up for Public Account in eTRAKiT

    To sign up for eTRAKiT as a public user

    Procedure
    On the home page of every eTRAKiT, assuming you're logged in, there is a "Set Up Account" Link towards the top of the page. 
  • After clicking this and filling out the required information (then saving), an account will be created for you. You may have to verify by clicking on a link sent to your email.  

  • The City of Colton business hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • City Departments/Divisions participating in the eTRAKiT include:
     - Development Services Department – Building and Planning 
     - Fire Department: Community Risk Reduction Division
     - Fire Department
  • Anonymous Users: No login is required for a general property search.
  • eTRAKiT system allows you to apply and pay for permits.  Users of eTRAKiT may include:

  • Public Registered Users (Owner/Builder): Log-in is required to schedule inspections and to view records in detail.
  • Contractors: Log-in is required. Your Username is your State License Number and your (first-time) Passcode is the last 4 digits of your phone number (in our records).

Consultation with a City staff member from the respective City division/department may be needed before applying for an online permit or development application.  *Many City permits will also require Planning Division or other City Department approval prior to online submission. Please consult with a City staff member as applicable prior to making an online permit submission.  

At the present time, the following permits may be obtained or started for permit processing.  Each permit comes with application, plans, inspections, final sign-off, continued compliance (Planning Approvals & Environmental Mitigation), and business license registration as applicable.

Non-Utility: Maximum Amount per Payment is $300,000. Multiple payments may be made.


Incomplete electronic submissions will result in a correction from one of the City’s staff members. Permit processing time will depend on the permit type.

Inspections

Building Permits: To schedule an inspection, log-in  OR use our Automated Phone System, (909) 370-5131

Business Occupancy Permits/Waivers: To schedule an inspection, log in or use our Email Request at BOP@coltonca.gov.  BOP inspection conducted every Thursday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Re-inspections may be scheduled directly with City department representative or on the Thursday between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. the following date if inspection request received by 4:00 pm prior to the inspection date.  Be aware that more than two re-inspections may cause a need for additional fees to be paid prior to scheduling the inspection or before final sign-off is completed.

Public Works 

Grading and Encroachment Permits: To schedule an inspection log in to eTRACKiT or use our Automated Phone System at (909) 370-6190 before 4:00 pm for next-day inspections and leave a message with name & phone number, permit number, and type of inspection requested.  This is a hotline, please wait to receive confirmation of your scheduled inspection.  Note – standard inspections are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Inspections outside of these hours will require overtime fees.
